NEW hotels are springing up all over Dubai – as always – but Motor City recently got its first. And while the Park Inn by Radisson may have been open barely a few months, it has already added its name to the busy city iftar circuit this Ramadan.

TRYING to pick an iftar over Ramadan could prove a tough one as the choices are mounting up. In the second of our iftar previews we head 'in-land' for a fine feed in Dubai Production City aka IMPZ. Away from the obvious landmark hotels and restaurants some lesser-known names are set to serve up a fast-breaking buffet that could rival the more obvious options.
One of those comes courtesy of Ghaya Grand Hotel, away from the bright lights of the Dubai Marina or Downtown Dubai, at the southern end of the 44. WITH Ramadan fast approaching many hotels and other outlets are beginning to showcase their iftar offering. We’ll be checking out some different selections for those breaking their fast or simply wanting to try a new venue during this special time of year in Dubai. Here’s a special one to kick off with… IT has to be said when it comes to a setting for iftar few venues are better suited than the plush surroundings of Ewaan and its Ramadan ‘tent’.
BRUNCHES come in all shapes, sizes and colours in Dubai - seemingly hundreds with scores of themes designed to catch your eye. But The City Brunch puts the focus firmly back on the stuff that matters, namely good food and refreshments in a family-friendly environment where you can really socialise. It might sound odd that at some brunches the grub comes secondary to the liquids – and you can actually go home hungry - but it does happen.
However, there’s little chance of that happening at The Westin - Al Habtoor City which draws on the other hotel kitchens in the development - W Dubai and St Regis - to fuel a special culinary adventure. IT’S been said by a few people in the past that Dubai is like the Las Vegas of the Middle East. And that impression is set to deepen with the announcement that famous American brand Caesars Entertainment Corporation is heading to the city. Innovative developer Meraas has partnered with the company behind the legendary Las Vegas hotel to add further sparkle to the emerging Bluewaters Island development. Caesars Entertainment will operate the two luxury hotels on the manmade island, a family-oriented destination located off the coast of Jumeirah Beach Residence.
Expected to open in the fourth quarter of the year, the hotels include the exclusive 178-key Caesars Palace Bluewaters Dubai. It will be only the second Caesars Palace in the world and will feature one indoor and two outdoor swimming pools, a 630sq metre spa and a health centre with stunning views of Ain Dubai, as well as six restaurants, beach club and conference centre. Caesars Bluewaters Dubai will feature 301 rooms, two outdoor swimming pools, three restaurants, three meeting rooms equipped to provide business services, and an 850sq metre event hall. Both hotels will have an array of amenities and services and offer direct access to a 450-metre private beach. FOR anyone who lamented the departure of Trader Vic’s on JBR the new version at the nearby Hilton is a very worthy replacement. One grumble about the original branch on Dubai’s best-known tourist street was that it was too discreet.
The newly-opened venue still might not be too obvious to anyone wondering along JBR, but it is a big place that packs plenty of atmosphere. ANOTHER titan of the celebrity chef tsunami has booked his plot in the elite Dubai dining scene. Globally renowned culinary alchemist Heston Blumenthal will open a restaurant at The Royal Atlantis Resort & Residences in 2019. ‘Dinner by Heston Blumenthal’ as the first named outlet to open within the futuristic property, which sits beside Atlantis The Palm. Already an established, multi award-winning brand, it follows on from successful locations in London and Melbourne, and will be the third outpost of the culinary concept developed by the Michelin-star chef. With its ground-breaking architectural design, The Royal Atlantis Resort & Residences will offer 231 luxury apartments comprised of two, three, four and five-bedroom residences including Skycourts, Penthouses and Garden Suites, ranging from 1,400 to 17,000 square feet as well as 795 rooms and suites.
IN an era when food can get too fancy or fussy for the sake of it simply letting good ingredients shine can win a restaurant plenty of fans. Such is sometimes the scenario with Italian cooking and at Luigia - new kid on the JBR block – the above certainly seems to apply.
