They bring the award-winning ‘Summer, WitTank’ tour to our shores from tomorrow to take our minds off the sticky evenings.
“The Laughter Factory has once again found three acts that possess all the born-with-it-or-not qualities associated with the worlds leading comics,” says mistress of mirth Gail Clough, TLF’s co-founder.
These include new to the region wrangler Pat Burstcher (pictured above) - a firm favourite at Montreal’s ’Just for Laughs Festival’ and a regular headliner on the fiercely competitive San Francisco and Seattle comedy scene.
Since 2004, the Canadian comedian has been crossing the globe with a pocket full of ideas, a brain full of questions and a heart full of love.
Sharing disbelief at the UAE late summer heat is another Gulf newcomer, Andy White.
An energetic, confident and “silly Brummie”, he combines daft voices and a mad afro to devastating comic effect.
Andy has numerous media appearances, including most notably winning BBC TV’s Weakest Link comedian’s special, the experience of which later featured in his Edinburgh show ‘It Started With A Quiz’ in 2007.
Finally, following the phenomenal success of his Edinburgh run, Marcus Birdman delivers the kind of perfectly crafted, “unmissable show” you’d expect of a comic with a CV as long as a loo roll.
Looking more like a magician than a mirth merchant in the image below, he’s been described by the BBC - a regular employer for everything from voiceovers to appearances on numerous shows - as “ the all-round package; witty, controversial, hip, topical and silly…a master of timing and physical comedy."
After his UAE romp, there are likely to be a good few people in the UAE who’ll remember his moniker and modus operandi for a long while.
As a regional comedy extra, the following week Whose Line is it Anyway?, courtesy of premier UK improv group The Noise Next Door, is in the UAE.
Purveyors of lightning-quick wit and totally original comedic talents, they’ve been performing their own distinctive brand of off-the-cuff comedy together since meeting at university.
