Ms. Amal Bamatraf, Director of Culture Communication & Activities Department, revealed that 536,292 LEGO bricks went into the realistic rendition, demanding more than 6,300 hours to complete and weighing approximately 1,323 kilograms.
The real thing, in Abu Dhabi, remains a huge tourist draw, as well as an important place of worship. It celebrates 10 years of operation in 2017.
Some 30 contractors and 30,000 workers were involved in completing various elements of the structure and decoration with materials sourced from many countries including Greece, Italy, Germany, China, India and Morocco.
The creative harmony and the outstanding integration between the Islamic and modern architectural styles made it a great model for architectural design.
