As arguably his country's best-known ambassador, the man they nicknamed the 'groover from Vancouver' has spent the last three decades making music history.
He has sold upwards of 65 million records, toured six continents and achieved number status in at least 40 countries around the world.
During that time the guitarist and singer has also been nominated for Academy Awards and Golden Globes and is the owner of a Grammy Award. He has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and has been inducted into Wembley's Square of Fame, not least as a long-time resident of London.
But Adams remains for most of us the gravely voice behind classic rockers Summer of 69, Cuts Like A Knife, and Run To You, as well as mellower hits Heaven and Robin Hood Prince of Thieves epic title tune Everything I Do (I Do It For You).
Get Up was produced by famed ELO frontman Jeff Lynne and co-written with his long-time collaborator Jim Vallance. The album features nine new songs and four acoustic versions.
