Far from it…at least so far as those folk down at Barasti are concerned.
And that goes one of the emirate’s most popular eating and refreshment establishments.
Something similar worked well for the venue last year during the summer World Cup, so they’ve done it again - but bigger.
The result is a very different atmosphere to the usual Barasti vibe, but you get sensible temperatures while the rest of the outside is cooking all who dare to wander amid the humidity.
The ‘tent’ covers the entire middle deck of the beach bar and was in place for last weekend’s Champions League final.
The 30m by 40m by 8m structure will remain throughout the hottest months, allowing punters to watch the tennis drama of Wimbledon, the winning swings of The US Open and the rough and tumble of the Rugby World Cup without breaking sweat – except maybe one of nerves on behalf of a favourite team or player.
The scale of the white structure is something of a first for the venue, according to Barasti Operations Manager Phil Hardie.
“Although we have had tents erected for big sporting events before, we’ve never attempted anything quite as ambitious as covering the entire outdoor bar,” he says, “so we’re really excited to see the end result.
“From the Champions League Final to the Rugby World Cup in October, the sporting calendar is particularly busy this summer, so by going undercover we can still give our customers the Barasti experience they know and love without the heat getting in the way.”
