LOOKING out of place isn’t always a negative - and for the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ajman it makes the arrival all the more memorable. After passing plenty of low-rise and rather fairly forgettable architecture en route, spotting the elegant facade of this luxury hotel is a pleasant surprise.

RARELY has a can of Diet Coca-Cola arrived with such athletic flair. Settling into the shade after a refreshing swim and one of the poolside F&B team members arrives atop in-line skates to offer a chilled drink. These skater waiters, as we’ll call them, are one of a few quirky aspects that has Rixos Saadiyat Island standing out among so many other resorts, including competitors on this prime stretch of Abu Dhabi coastline.
THE phrase 'the height of luxury' takes on a whole new meaning at Millennium Resort Mussanah. For this is surely one the few hotels in the world that can lay claim to operating a dedicated dual zip-line for its more daring guests this Eid break.
FOR years some of us have passed through Hatta on a ‘border run’ to renew a tourist visa at Oman. But now the town has risen up the ranks as a reason to visit Dubai – and that has meant even more people making a beeline for JA Hatta Fort Hotel… THERE’S little doubting your arrival in Hatta these days - the town’s name is spelled out in large Hollywood-style white letters on the hillside as you approach.
At night this same sign illuminates in changing colours high above the otherwise quiet streets of this gateway to a thriving culture of outdoor activity. AS Ramadan arrives we check out an iftar in the unique setting of Kingfisher Lodge. FEW iftar gatherings this Ramadan will involve travelling by car, boat and then electric buggy.
But Kingfisher Lodge – Sharjah Collection by Mysk is not your usual hospitality destination. IF you fancy a weekend jaunt to Ras Al Khaimah any time soon there’s a new hotel from a familiar name that will make sure you don’t bruise your wallet. We check out the first Citymax hotel to check into the increasingly popular northern emirate…
A FEW eyebrows may well have been raised when Rotana opened a third hotel within metres of two others in its portfolio. Either way, the arrival of the Pearl Rotana Capital Centre seems to be proving popular among the leisure and business audience alike.
And rightly so… THE first thing that hits you about the Hilton Al Hamra Beach & Golf Resort is, well, the beach - it is enormous. Even when the resort is busy, it is possible to find a discreet spot away from other guests in which to relax and absorb the UAE sunshine.
WITH Eid almost here we check out a classic resort in the UAE capital for both iftar and a post-Ramadan staycation during the summer months. THERE are few places more serene in Abu Dhabi than the “grand canal” at sunset as the maghrib prayer call issues from Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.
And even less locations as ideally placed to enjoy both of these aspects than The Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi, Grand Canal. WITH a reputation for the occasional dolphin sighting and one of the UAE’s most natural beaches Saadiyat Island is already somewhere special. Now thanks to the opening of Saadiyat Rotana Resort & Villas there’s a stunning new location from which to enjoy these wonders. Recently opened and occupying a prime beachfront site, Saadiyat Rotana Resort & Villas is a signature address in this homegrown hotel group's portfolio.
While its mix of modern Arabic design and contemporary features mark the resort out from many staycation challengers, its use of location underlines the appeal. Wooden and matted boardwalks link the hotel to a white sand shoreline, passing over protected dunes that remain fertile as nesting territory for challenged turtle species. |
